In his honor, I made 34 animated GIFs from his 2013 film, Unbeatable. 15 in this set and 19 in the next set which can be found here:
The GIFs are of his MMA/Boxing training. Cheung won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor for his role as a former boxing champion looking for redemption and his former days of glory before he went astray. The Best Actor Award came in the same year that Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmaster almost sweeping the Awards. Cheung beat out Tony Leung's performance of Grandmaster Ip Man to snag the coveted and well-deserved award. Cheung showed great acting chops in Unbeatable, a drama that had some comedy and action. On the surface Unbeatable looks like the standard film about MMA, but director Dante Lam, with a strong script and excellent acting from the birthday boy elevates Unbeatable into a great film. Cheung, no stranger to film awards, having been nominated multiple times, won multiple 2008 Best Actor Awards for his role of Hung King in Beast Stalker, a film also directed by Dante Lam.
