My Site/Blog Traffic Statistics May 2008-Dec 2012

Many people monitor the traffic to their site/blog. I wasn't that savvy about it when I started my site/blog. Found out about Google Analytics around May 2008. Prior to that, I used Sitemeter, which doesn't seem to be as powerful as Google Analytics.

At the end of year, these vigilant siteowners/bloggers would post stats of the traffic to their site. Starting this year, I will be on top of this for whatever that's worth. I'm not looking to sell anything, win site awards, etc. But perhaps, some of the readers/visitors of my site/blog would be interested.

Below is a chart of the All-Time Amount of Visitors Monthly. Although the chart doesn't give stats out for years 2009 and 2011 which is my fault for not monitoring this and for that you have my sincerest apologies.

After the jump, you can read more of the various breakdowns (including Most Popular Posts) and my thoughts on the Traffic.

I wanted to take time out to thank my readers. It is humbling to know the stuff I post/archive is not just lingering in cyberspace and that there is interest.

OK away we go!

I posted the chart above. It breaks down like this - not sure why 2009 and 2011 doesn't show up in the chart, regardless:

2008 May = 0
2008 June = 0
2008 July = 2,996
2008 August = 2,971
2008 September = 3,516
2008 October = 3,156
2008 November = 2,843
2008 December = 2,811

2010 January = 2,808
2010 February = 3,093
2010 March = 3,087
2010 April = 3,831
2010 May = 3,759
2010 June = 3,850
2010 July = 3,374
2010 August = 3,120
2010 September = 2,802
2010 October = 2,729
2010 November = 3,436
2010 December = 3,351

2012 January = 3,428
2012 February = 3,401
2012 March = 2,857
2012 April = 2,581
2012 May = 2,484
2012 June = 2,019
2012 July = 2,250
2012 August = 2,320
2012 September = 3,037
2012 October = 3,606
2012 November = 5,693
2012 December = 5,128
Absent the data from 2009 and 2011, the Lowest amount of visits was in June 2012 with 2,019 visitors (excluding May and June of 2008 with 0 visits). The Greatest amount of visitors in a month occurred in Nov 2012 with 5,693.

Quick eyeballing of the data gives us a rough estimate of 3,000 visits a month which is roughly 100 visitors a day. I don't know if this is good or bad. It is what it is.

Below is the yearly breakdown of my 400+ posts:

    ►  2012 (113)

    ►  2011 (7)

    ►  2010 (22)

    ►  2009 (163)

    ►  2008 (82)

    ►  2007 (17)

    ►  2006 (2)

Now check out the monthly totals of posts per month in 2012:

    ▼  2012 (113)
        ►  December (19)
        ►  November (24)
        ►  October (32)
        ►  September (16)
        ►  August (14)
        ►  July (4)
        ►  June (3)
        ►  January (1)
In the first half of 2012, I hardly posted and yet my site/blog still managed to get ~2,5000 visits monthly during that first half. Thank you readers for your support!

Without further ado, this is the part you have been curious about (I think LOL) ... what of a little over 400 posts in a little less than 4 years time were the most popular ?!?!?

MENTAL DRUMROLL PLEASE...

I didn't expect 2 posts with links to 2 forums I surf by from time-to-time would be the most popular in a little less than 4 years! A post with a picture of a statue of Hercules grabbing Diomedes privates to break a throw came in 4th! A random post on 9/9/09 came in 5th!? The 7th most popular post by me just shows the enduring charisma and popularity of Brandon Lee even in death. And I did expect both my friend's Army Maguire and Lee Aldridge's material to be in the Top Ten.

I will close this entry out reiterating my Sincerest and Deepest appreciation and gratitude to you, the readers of my site/blog. Looking forward to continue to share good martial arts/self-defense related information as well as links to good sites.

THANK YOU!!!

Very truly yours in the Martial Arts and Self-Defense,

~sg

p.s. there is some other data that Google Analytics tracked including Country of Origin, Browser and Operating system, and Traffic Sources which I will not bore you with. But if anyone is interested, please let me know.
